American Idol David Archuleta receives Fruitful Trophy

Last week, the F2R delivery vehicle was summoned to deliver a fabulous Fruitful Trophy edible fruit bouquet arrangement to American Idol contestant, David Archuleta. It was the final contest day and the press and paparazzi were swarming the Nokia Theatre at the Staples Center as I pulled up to a crowd of people who were watching former Idol has-been (Justin Guarini) taping an interview for later re-broadcast. There were throngs of people everywhere; I suspected it might be a challenge to find the designated area to deliver the prize-winning gift to David Archuleta... Eventually, a woman approached me looking quite official with her walkie-talkie and multiple ID badges. She offered to take the bouquet herself to David Archuleta's trailer. "Wow, this thing is heavy!" she said. I watched her saunter off behind security gates as the Fruitful Trophy was admired by other officials. Later that evening, I watched American Idol to see if the Fruitful Trophy fruit bouquet arrangement received by David Archuleta might be featured in the background of an impromptu interview inside his makeup trailer, but the fruit sculpture trophy was nowhere to be seen...sigh

A Memorable Mother's Day at Fruits To Remember

Mother’s Day was very busy for the entire staff at Fruits To Remember.. The day began at 5am, beginning with picking up fresh fruit from the market downtown. We had many deliveries throughout the greater Los Angeles area and there were many unique delivery requests. Our commitment to customer service satisfaction was put to the test when the first fruit bouquet delivery of the day was scheduled for 5:30 in the morning! It’s a safe bet the early-rising recipient was the first person in Los Angeles to receive a luxury fruit arrangement on Mother's Day.

The F2R delivery vehicle visited many new destinations within Los Angeles on Mother’s Day, and many drivers and pedestrians smiled and pointed at the delicious-looking fruit graphics on our delivery vehicle as we passed them by on the freeway or on the streets. While in traffic in Beverly Hills, a gentlemen passenger in a stately Rolls Royce waved at me as the traffic slowed and he slowly rolled down his window. I thought he was going to ask if I had any Grey Poupon, but instead he politely asked if I had any fruit samples, right there in traffic! I did not have any samples at the time and I smiled and laughed and handed him a brochure and we moved forward in traffic.

Our new Delightful Surprise arrangement was very popular on Mother’s Day, as well as the English Tea. However, I must say that our deluxe and elegant, luxury chocolate-covered strawberry variety arrangement, Modern Berries was the smash hit of the day!

Barbra Streisand

April 24 was Barbra Streisand’s birthday! It was very exciting knowing there was a slight possibility of meeting Barbra Streisand as I drove to her seaside home. It was a beautiful, sunny California morning as I headed north up Pacific Coast Highway toward Malibu. I approached the main gate to Barbra Streisand’s Seacliff home and rang the intercom buzzer. I heard a woman’s voice and she asked who I was. I anxiously waited at the gate for somebody (Barbra?) to receive the bouquet of chocolate-covered strawberries. Of course, it was naïve of me to think that Barbra Streisand would answer her gate herself, but one never knows. Her assistant eventually came to the gate to greet me and she received the Choco Berry Bouquet on Barbra’s behalf. The senders of the fruit arrangement (friends of Barbra) must have felt it was important to send the very best...to the very best! Can you believe it? Sylvester Stallone of Rocky & Rambo fame walked into our Beverly Hills showroom today! I said to him, “I've got no guns on me, Rambo!” He smiled reassuringly and said all was okay. I showed him our design showroom, he looked at our fruit arrangements and tasted some freshly cut fruit, and we offered him some fresh Valrhona chocolate-dipped apple wedges for him to sample. He enjoyed the fruit very much and he instantly became a fan of our custom-designed edible fruit bouquet sculpture arrangements. He savored the fresh taste of our hand-selected cut fruit and admired the beauty of the fruit bouquet arrangements being prepared for delivery. He chatted a bit with our design staff and was kind enough to have his picture taken in our design room and said we could use the photo in our blog! Another recent celebrity delivery included Lionel Richie, who recently received a Lifetime Achievement award. He was very appreciative and thankful to his worldwide fans.
